One of the most interesting rooms at Bowood House is the laboratory where oxygen was discovered by Dr Joseph Priestley.
The library is a testament to the wealth and sophistication of the house’s former occupants and is sure to impress visitors with its grandeur and elegance.
There are various exhibition rooms at the house, so there is plenty to explore for those who are into history and the arts. These include Georgian costumes; Victoriana, Indiana and superb collections of watercolours, miniatures and jewelry.
You can also enjoy taking in the stunning grounds and gardens, which span around one hundred acres.They have designed by the famous Capability Brown and feature a lake, cascades, a walled garden, and the famous “Gardens in the Sky” featuring stunning views.
